Parallel Session 2:
1:15 PM - 2:00 PM (IST)
Parallel Session 3:
3:45 PM - 4:25 PM (IST)
Description: In this session, participants will explore practical strategies to personalize math instruction and curriculum for all students, including highly-able learners, in a mixed-ability classroom. Specifically, I will discuss how to combine and leverage whole-class and small-group instruction, common formative assessments, data collection, and the use of digital math applications to assess individual needs, compact curriculum for highly able students, reteach when necessary, and provide math extensions that challenge students at every level, all while allowing each student to work at their own speed. By integrating best teaching and assessment practices with real-time data analysis and the targeted use of technology, teachers across divisions can tailor content, pace, and depth to engage and appropriately challenge all leanrers. Attendees will leave with practical methods for not only personalizing, but specifically tailoring, learning for every single student in your math classroom through the use of ongoing formative assessments and technology.
Description: Having either started or revamped multiple HAGT programs in international schools, let's look at some common pitfalls and how to avoid them. We'll look at communication strategies, necessary areas of knowledge about research, collaboration strategies, and logistical information of how to set up key aspects of HAGT programming.
Description: This interactive session offers practical tools for educators to nurture student curiosity, enhance critical thinking, and inspire creativity. Learn about resources and ways to promote a culture of questioning in your school or classroom. Put on your thinking caps!
Description: In this session, participants will explore strategies for meeting the needs of HAGT learners in mixed-ability mathematics classrooms. We will examine the use of low-floor, high-ceiling tasks that provide accessible entry points for all students while offering opportunities for depth and challenge, knowledge mobility as a differentiation tool, and content curation for more personalized learning experiences. The session will equip attendees with practical instructional tools and provide opportunities for idea exchange.
Description: Inclusion is complete only when students are able to explore and extend their learning standards with meaning in the context of their areas of interest, or passion. This can be achieved through Enrichment projects where students get to understand and delve deeper into learning standards by applying them to areas of personal interest. The teaching/learning process would include authentic and deeper collaboration between the educators, student service specialists, as subject/ industry experts thereby developing real-life skills (Approaches to Learning) alongside the academic benchmarks.
In the 60-minute interactive session, participants will collaboratively explore a simulated version of the Enrichment class/project that gives them a peek into the scope, planning process, and alignment to academic standards as well as approaches to learning. This will involve engaging with at least three sample topics from different disciplines, and getting a glimpse into previous student projects and artifacts; the participants will also be provided with templates that ease their way into the enrichment planning and processes.
Description: Continuation from PART 1 (see session description above)
Description: The direct route of a typical international school curriculum is a perfect fit for many students, but the educational journey for some of our gifted students may require changes in direction or bifurcated paths in order for them to remain engaged and learning. This session explores strategies for creating personalized educational pathways that address the unique needs of gifted and highly able students. Practical tools, case studies, and collaborative discussions will allow participants to gain fresh insights and design inclusive and flexible learning environments where gifted learners can thrive. Leave equipped with actionable strategies to transform your classroom into a hub of personalized excellence.
Description: Are your high-ability students struggling with not being "motivated"? What if the real issue isn’t laziness, but something deeper? This session introduces a game-changing checklist designed to uncover the true barriers behind students’ lack of motivation. Learn how to pinpoint key factors—like skills gaps, perfectionism, or lack of purpose—and tailor interventions that truly work. You’ll leave the session with a new tool and feeling more equipped to transform disengagement into inspired learning. Don’t miss this opportunity to revolutionize how you support your most capable yet complex learners!
