Learning Outcomes

By the end of the Symposium, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply a flexible lesson structure that personalizes math instruction, increases student agency, and enhances engagement using existing curricular materials.

  2. Integrate data science into math instruction through open-ended problems, high-ceiling/low-floor tasks, and technology-supported strategies that extend students’ mathematical thinking.

  3. Differentiate for advanced learners in mixed-ability classrooms by designing inquiry-based, tiered assignments and leveraging AI-driven tutoring tools.

  4. Personalize math learning in elementary classrooms using whole-class and small-group instruction, formative assessments, compacting, and enrichment strategies informed by real-time data.

  5. Promote student voice, choice, and ownership in mathematics by providing opportunities for learners to progress at their own pace with targeted challenges.

  6. Address barriers faced by advanced math students by applying an ecological framework that aligns instruction, environment, and pathways to advanced opportunities.

  7. Recognize the difference between equity and equality in curriculum design and implement practices that equitably challenge all learners.

  8. Leverage digital tools and instructional videos to extend and adapt classroom learning while maintaining inclusivity and rigor.

  9. Draw from real classroom case studies to identify effective practices that have improved student outcomes and engagement in diverse contexts.

  10. Leave with actionable strategies and tools that can be immediately implemented in your classroom to enhance instruction and learning outcomes for all students.
