Building on the applied strategies developed in Level 2, this course moves participants into the specialized work of designing and implementing curriculum telescoping in their own classrooms. Participants will examine how widely used frameworks like Common Core and the IB account for the needs of gifted learners, distinguish telescoping from other forms of acceleration such as grade-skipping and curriculum compacting, identify the key markers of a strong telescoping candidate, and work through the practical steps of building a telescoped curriculum element from standards analysis to parent communication, including drafting the beginnings of a letter that addresses eligibility, success markers, and the plan should a student need to return to the regular pace.
Suited for program coordinators, school leaders, and educators who have completed Level 2 or have equivalent prior experience in gifted education.

Participants will examine the development processes behind widely used curricula, such as Common Core and the IB, and evaluate the extent to which these frameworks account for the needs of gifted learners.
Participants will distinguish curriculum telescoping from other forms of acceleration, including grade-skipping and curriculum compacting, and identify the range of ways telescoping can be applied across a subject or grade span.
Participants will analyze the research on repetition and content recycling in standard curricula, and explain why this approach can be detrimental to gifted learners.
Participants will identify the key markers of a strong candidate for telescoping, and evaluate ongoing indicators of a successful telescoped experience.
Participants will understand the role of pre-assessment in telescoping and how it interacts with curriculum compacting to shape pacing and focus for individual students.
Participants will review standards progressions across grade levels to identify content that can be combined, eliminated, or extended without creating learning gaps.
Participants will design one element of a telescoped curriculum for a subject and grade range of their choosing, justifying their decisions based on standards analysis.
Participants will develop a parent communication letter that explains a telescoped curriculum opportunity, addressing eligibility, success markers, and the plan should a student need to return to the regular pace.
